Description

Genesis – A Simple Gift of Life –  was a custom band arrangement for medium size band in Texas. The concept behind the show is exploring what we have done to our planet (“What Have We Done”), then moving to try and correct how we have treated (“Starting Over”) our enviroment, and finally closing with the idea that we have created “A New World”. This music opens with a recorder duet using the melody of “Simple Gifts”. This can always be changed to clarinets or flutes or front ensemble. In the remaining two parts to this show, the music provides textures ranging from soloists, to instrument families (ww’s vs. brass), to powerful full ensemble with excerpts from Dvorak’s New World Symphony. This show will combine powerful music with a powerful message for our students and audience.
